Currently I attend Florida State University and I am majoring in Elementary Education. I have worked with many children throughout the years including a summer camp which I helped students attending summer school with homework and volunteering in 1st and 2nd grade classrooms where I worked with children. I am a firm believer of not having one particular teaching style. Every student process information differently. This is why I strongly believe in adapting to the student needs. I am firm believer of patients and determination. I myself have had multiple tutors during my grade school years. My experience as a student needing a tutor introduced me to multiple teaching styles. In example as an elementary student, I did not work well with disciplinarian tutors. As a high school student a tutor that was “straight to the point” allowed me not to slack or give up to quickly. I began my higher education at Tallahassee Community College in 1997. After receiving my AA Degree I transferred to F.S.U where I majored in Criminology with a minor in Spanish and graduated in 2003. Since that time, I've worked as a legal assistant/paralegal with different law firms in town. Recently, I decided to return to school and received my certificate in Massage Therapy. The thing I love most about teaching is opening up someones eyes to something new and seeing the "wow" look on their faces. Sometimes certain subject matter is not always easy for a person to learn. I've always appreciated the teacher that went out of their way with a great amount of patience to make sure I understood. I am a graduate of Florida A&M University with a BS in Political Science, I am currently completing my MA degree at Barry Univeristy in Tallahassee, Fla. I was a Resource Teacher and wokred in the Innovation School of Execellence. I was Executive Director at a Christian Academy in Live Oak, Florida. I was also Director of the SES program (that was a sub-site)at our academy. I staffed 15 employees, 5 of which was retired accredited teacher. I also taught in our SES program. I was employed by the Interior Design department at FSU to teach undergraduate courses, being an instructor of record for the inital course for the department, Design Fundamentals. I have a passion for teaching and learning- it runs in the family as my husband is a middle school science and math teacher. Our parents are lifelong edcuators in Wakulla County.
