American History Tutors & Teachers for Lessons, Instruction or Help in Hatch, NM

I have a lot of experience tutoring elementary children, ages 6-11. I have a bit of experience teaching middle schoolers and high schoolers, though not as much as elementary. I am currently an Education major with a minor in history. I am also considering a degree in music and English. Generally I tutor in reading and writing. I have some in science but I'm much more in the creative arts field. Helping children get a love for learning is very important to me and I can't wait to help anyone willing to learn.

I am firm but like to use students life experiences and hobbies to teach them subjects. Younger students I like to teach through play due to the fact that I am a firm believer that children learn through play. I have been studying education since my high school graduation in hopes of one day being the choir director at my high school.At the moment I am a student at UTEP studying bilingual elementary education and plan to receive a masters in music education after receiving my bachelors degree. I got my first teaching experience as a lab instructor for undergraduate physics labs and fell in love with the profession. The best part of the experience is seeing the student grasp a concept that they felt out of reach. I enjoy coming up with inventive ways of communicating the difficult portions of math and science. Most of my students benefited from my teaching style which includes many examples and encourages a dialogue approach to difficult concepts. As a non-traditional student I recognize the necessity to create a level of confidence that inspires a student to continue their education with success. I have earned a bachelor’s and a master’s in English from New Mexico State University, which enabled me to increase my knowledge of grammar and rhetoric. While pursuing my degree I worked as a substitute teacher for the Las Cruces School District during the 2005-2006 school year. During this time I taught a variety of subjects for grades 6-12 and learned from various teachers how to best interact with students. I also have experience editing professional publications for appropriate grammar use as well as a probationary teacher’s license for the state of Texas through Teachers for the 21st Century. During my time as a substitute teacher I encountered students with different types of learning abilities. I finished my associate’s degree in 1 year. The day I graduated I was asked to join the faculty of the community college. I taught there for 3 years and reached the highest academic rank available to me. In addition to the technical skills required of drafters, and renderers, I bring a high level of artistic training, graphics arts experience and design drafting expertise with me and I use all of it for the benefit of my students I have taught widely varying subjects to many kinds of students.
