I am currently a Special Education Teacher at a Middle School. I have my M.ED in Special Education of Students with Moderate Disabilities (k-12). I have taught 2nd through 8th grade students in a collaborative environment. I love what I do and I have a Passion for teaching students with different learning styles.

I am a very motivating person and tend to use humor as a method of teaching. I teach to and with the child and never down to him/her. I break large components into their simplest forms so that a child learns to take things one step at a time and not feel overwhelmed. I make the learning relevant to what the child is interested in or knows about so that he/she can be more engaged in the learning process. We set the goal-a reasonable one yet with high expectations and together we achieve it.
For the past ten years, I have been teaching High School English. I have taught grades 9-12 in Literature, Composition and Standards of Learning in preparation for the state exams. I have taught inclusion classes involving students with numerous learning styles and have always met and exceeded the expectations of their parents.

I use a variety of teaching styles, i.e cooperative learning, learning centers, interactive learning, sight and tactile learning. The school system I am in emphasizes Differentiated Instruction. I believe I make a difference in student's lives both educationally and as a role model.
My experience as a teacher began when I was in the U.S. Navy, I was an Financial and Department Training instructor. After retiring from the Navy I went to work in the school system as a security assistant. After one year I resigned and went to Norfolk State University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a major concentration in Learning Disabled and a minor in Emotionally Disturbed. Ten years later I earned a Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College.
