I am currently in my 7th year as an Exceptional Children's Teacher. My most recent position consists of being an Algebra I Inclusion teacher where I am responsible for going into the general education classroom providing educational assistance to students with special needs primarily while assisting everyone else collectively while present.

I have experience with children from 6 weeks old through High School.As a teacher,tutor, mentor and director.I was very much driven to a high level of educational expertise.My area of expertise are students with ADD/ADHD or those who are disenchanted with learning or with school. The key is to listen to the child, find out what areas of interest they have and build on that. I have never encountered a child who did not want to read about their area of interests. A Little Bit About Me...

For the past ten years, I have been teaching High School English. I have taught grades 9-12 in Literature, Composition and Standards of Learning in preparation for the state exams. I have taught inclusion classes involving students with numerous learning styles and have always met and exceeded the expectations of their parents.
I am a very motivating person and tend to use humor as a method of teaching. I teach to and with the child and never down to him/her. I break large components into their simplest forms so that a child learns to take things one step at a time and not feel overwhelmed. I make the learning relevant to what the child is interested in or knows about so that he/she can be more engaged in the learning process. We set the goal-a reasonable one yet with high expectations and together we achieve it.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an graduate of Elizabeth City State University, I have done exceptionally well. I learned so much through tutoring other students. When I tutored in the Business Department for Accounting and Finance classes, I gave some students hope, and some students even looked up to me. That they made me feel great and it really made me enjoy what I did because I helped a lot of the students turn the weaknesses into strengths.
I feel as though every child can achieve the impossible, and with the help of someone giving them the attention that they deserve and need, they will feel better about themselves as well.
