A Little Bit About Me...

Prior to earning my degree in education, I was a sign language interpreter for the Deaf. I noticed that Deaf students were not getting an adequate education so I decided to finish my degree so that I would have the ability to have more influence with my student's ability to be successful regardless of their disability. I earned my BA in education with an endorsement in English. I have also had additional education in the area of Diversity and experience in working with special needs students. I have had the opportunity to tutor adults and children in sign language, English, Social Studies and math. My strong suit is being able to assist a student in finding a way for them to find understanding in their studies.
I believe that students learn in a variety of ways and demonstrate their understand in many ways as well. Therefore, I strive to help students learn what type of learn ... read more

What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.
During the last 10 years I have worked with all levels of students, preschool through college levels. These areas include reading, math, english, psychology, science and social studies. I am a self starter and have worked wi ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is participative and interactive. I lecture, when necessary but like to make my students feel as though there are an intregral part of the cognitive learning process. I believe in encouraging students to reach their fullest potential and beyond. A caring, patient, compassionate, but professional and firm teacher, I value the thoughts and ideas that my students share. My students' input is very important to me, because it well determines how I can deliver quality instruction and the very best in their academic performance. I see the educational process, as a learning experience and I believe that because every learner learns differently, my instruction must be adjusted to accommodate each learner's individual need. I love teaching and am currently fulfilling a childhood dream. I look forward to tutoring you so that you too can reach your fullest potential and goals.
