I like to work with students individually, but sometimes a group is fine. I have the student read the assigned reading, Ask student to sound out words they are having trouble with. If they cannot read selection and it is short I will have them read it again. Longer selections are broken into parts. Drama is more flexible, tapping into emotions, and developing character styles
Worked as a Teacher's assistant with Learning disabled student's in a classroom setting. Tutored students in reading who were learning disabled. My goal was to teach my student's to read well enough to fill in job applications. Those on a third grade reading level, reached a fifth grade reading level or better. When I tutored them. Three years drama, I have done community theater.

A Little Bit About Me...

My experience in the teaching field has been primarily as a substitute on a daily basis. I have some long-term sub assignments in my resume as well. For the past 7 years I have limited my assignments to "Home/Hospital". I meet 5 hours per week with each student to provide complete instruction in all subject areas for the student(s) unable to be in the regular classroom setting due to illness. It is very much a tutoring situation as 5 hours per week is not nearly enough to provide the detailed instruction available on a daily basis.
It seems to me that everyone can learn, in different ways and at different times. My approach is to have several options of which approach will be successful. A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored children in reading last summer. It was one of the most gratifying things I have done. I worked with English as second language children ranging from ages 5 to 13. We used a lesson plan and several activities to help children in achieving their reading level goals. Also, in my undergrad experience, I excelled in writing and was very good with meeting deadlines.
I am a very down to earth person especially when it comes to kids. I always try to lighten up the mood and make learning things interesting and fun.
