I am a third year education major at the University of Florida. I have five years of experience as a tutor for elementary students, ranging from grades k- 6 and two years of experience as an Alachua County public school volunteer, including experience with students with special needs. My responsibilities as a volunteer included individual and group assistance with classwork, such as math, reading, reading comprehension, phonics, and writing. As part of my teacher training, I was placed in neighboring Gainesville elementary schools as a tutor/mentor. I taught and reviewed third grade mathematic concepts, such as multi-digit addition and subtraction, multiplication, division, number ordering, and skip counting using games and creative activities.
