For writing, usually I conduct some exercises. The level of the critique and what to say depends heavily on the age of the student. For grammar, I would either find or create my own practice materials and we could go over whatever is necessary until I've decided that the student is making improvements or the student has succeeded.
Over the past year, I have tried to extend my ability to share my love and appreciation of English and literature with others. As an English/Communications major, I am very knowledgable in a variety of subjects including grammar, writing composition and reading comprehension. I enjoy watching people's faces light up when they grasp a point. Utilizing everything from movies, games, lecture and discussion, I try to find out where my student can plug into the subject under scrutiny and start there. I have recently graduated from Purchase College with an Undergraduate degree in Music with a minor in English.
