A Little Bit About Me...

Over the past year, I have tried to extend my ability to share my love and appreciation of English and literature with others. As an English/Communications major, I am very knowledgable in a variety of subjects including grammar, writing composition and reading comprehension. Last year, as President of the Writers Forum, we spent several months tutoring as part of an after school program where we helped children in Baltimore write.
For writing, usually I conduct some exercises. The level of the critique and what to say depends heavily on the age of the student. For grammar, I would either find or create my own practice materials and we could go over whatever is necessary until I've decided that the student is making improvements or the student has succeeded.

My Undergraduate studies involved extensive study Art history and my Masters Diploma in Textiles helped me a lot in research studies.I also won a scholarship to study Strategic Design in Milan. I am very creative and can communicate effortlessly. During my stay in India, I volunteered in a Blind school and later in a school for slow learners and children with autism. My Masters in Psychology supplemented this learning. I worked for a year with Citibank in their training department that involved teaching new employees and developed numerous teaching modules. Students learn skills by using them in a realistic, subject-specific context, and in a combined way. So they might use other skills taught before such as note taking, highlighting, all in context. The purpose of the skills are stressed, students are taught not just what to do and how, but also why.
