After finishing my PhD I went to work for Monsanto as an organic analytical chemist. My speciality was the use of mass spectrometry to understand organic chemical reactions and the products and impurities that were formed. While working for Monsanto I also taught College chemistry classes (Organic I and II and the labs). I have over forty publications and forty presentations. I am the author of two books on Organic Analytical Chemistry. I was also honored by being appointed a Science Fellow in Monsanto. I challenge students to overcome their difficulties and do not allow them to persist repeatedly in ignorance and misunderstanding. Rather, I require my students to learn and extensively practice even the most basic concepts until they are no longer problems, and this allows the students to move on to more complicated concepts, but, as needed, I patiently explain any concepts that are unclear. I remedy errors in morphology by requiring repetition of the correct forms, and by requiring the students to convert certain words into their other forms, reinforcing the various attributes of each form. I also make sure each sentence is read and understood in the order in which the sentence is written so that it can be understood as it is written.
