As an undergraduate at NYU, I earned that extra spending money by tutoring Latin. As my customer base grew, I branched out into mathematics and general study skills. After college I went to Europe to earn an MA in Linguistics. Upon return, I immediately began a PhD program, and I used my previous experience in a number of side jobs teaching English as a second language. Over the past 4 years I have tutored several individuals in English focusing mostly on grammar and writing skills. Several of my students have gone on to graduate degrees at Ivy League institutions such as Columbia and Yale Universities. I love teaching people of all ages. I went from the Boston Public Schools to Commonwealth School and then Wellesley College, and would have been lost, early on, without help from tutors. I majored in English and Russian and work with several communities for whom English is not their first language. I am also a freelance writer and editor and I help my children's friends with their college essays. I work as a substitute teacher with all levels and grades and teach everything but Science and Gym.
