I am what you might call a camp kid. I grew up spending summers in the mountains, camping and hiking and when I grew older, working. The foundation of my leadership experience was built in the forrest. For six summers I worked as an outdoor educator and adventure guide, leading groups of students through week long trips into the natural world. I believe in experience as the greatest teacher. Literature is one of my top subjects!

I'm a firm believer in positive reinforcement. I have dealt with my fair share of teachers who use shame as a motivator, but that only stalls students. Teaching students WHY helps them understand HOW, and it works every time. I'm confident in this method's results.

I have tutored for a non-profit organization, Life Christian Church, as an after school program on Wednesdays free to the community. I have also taught English and History to home school students. One of the biggest accomplishments was watching of the students who detested writing papers because he did not believe he could do it, grow into a man who is not writing weekly papers confidently.
