I earned both my Masters' and Bachelors' degrees with honors from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. During my academic I learned to excel in everything I do, which help me master the accounting knowledge I have today. While at SIUC, I was also involved in many student organizations such as Beta Alpha Psi, Accounting Society, and NABA. Because of my elementary background, it is safe to say I am a very patient person and I use that skill in my ability. I allow the children to create their own paths and when there are roadblocks we work together to find a solution. I am not in the habit of giving students the answers. I feel education is most effective when self discovery is involved and I want my students to feel that they are learning and achieving in every way possible. A Little Bit About Me...

I really starting to help tutor people in high school. I found out that I enjoy helping people with there challenges and watching them succeed. I believe that when teaching or tutoring someone that you find a method that works for that person. That having a teaching template helps as a guide, but if you are not willing to change your method for the student they are never going to be able to retain the information for long term use.

A Little Bit About Me...

I've been a special education teacher and held positions in resource and in self-contained rooms. I've taught students with learning problems in reading, math, and writing. I have also worked in the Lights on for Learning program and have been a home tutor for home bound students in the district.
I'm a strong believer in the Gardner's ideas of many different learning styles and types of intelligent. Some students are better audio, tactile, or visual learners. I feel it is the teacher's responsibility to find the best learning style for each student and build on that format through scaffolding.
