In accounting, finance and economics I believe using real life examples is a better way to get a student to understand principles. However, I do recognize that all students do have different learning styles and it is my job to adapt my methods to the manner in which a student learns best.

I worked as a paralegal, parttime, for a lawfirm for awhile, then decided to take the Bar Exam in Florida. I took and passed the Florida Bar Exam in 2007. I have worked as a substitute teacher in a wide variety of subject areas, and have volunteered as a tutor for some time. However, since beginning a PhD program at UF I have done neither. Though most substitutes are not much more than babysitters, I attempted to teach whatever subject matter was before the students. I regularly heard from students that they understood my way of explaining something better than they understood their regular teacher (though this by no means happened in every class).
