I have spent my whole adult life working in the field of accounting and finance. I am a life long learner and believe in the power of education. I have been a CEO and COO of a publicly traded bank and am now employed as a VP of Project Management which gives me the flexibility to pursue teaching and tutoring. I am a licensed CPA in the State of Florida. I also teach accounting online for Rasmussen College.
In accounting, finance and economics I believe using real life examples is a better way to get a student to understand principles. However, I do recognize that all students do have different learning styles and it is my job to adapt my methods to the manner in which a student learns best.

My wife and I once hosted a French teenager with the understanding that I would teach him a series of English lessons during his stay. It quickly became apparent that his language skills far exceeded the pre-planned lessons, so I instead developed new lessons on the fly. I try to make sure my students thoroughly understand the central concepts of a subject by showing them how it works and why it matters. After they have that grasp, I try to move on to less important but more entertaining areas.
