My comments on tutoring SAT - Math : I specialize in math and science preparation. The first thing I do is find out the strong/weak areas of the student and focus on the areas that need the most improvement. I also use sample tests and test questions.

The one thing that I observed about the learning process, is that a person quickly grasps a concept if he/she is interested, or the topic is thoughtful and challenges the wit of a person and lastly, a person is very comfortable in learning through his/her friends. Nobody is stupid not to grasp a concept. It is the methodology, technique and feeling of comfort and interest, that is required. Hence I try to be affable and was more involved. A picturization or a real life example is more likely to fit in a person's mind. I used this technique and was very successful. As a recent college graduate, the stress, confusion, and (ultimately) joy involved in the attempt to master new subjects are fresh in my memory. While nothing can replace experience, I believe that being young provides me with an edge over those older than me when it comes to connecting with students.
