Tutoring that does not cost a fortune

Have maintained a 4.0 through out college with my lowest average being a 96. I have been ask by two publishing companies to review books for the upcoming year. I love tutoring students because through my experience I have learned that one on one time can be really beneficial to all students. I enjoy working with students and watching their growth and development academically. My approach to each student is different because I understand each will need a different approach. Initially with each student I identify his or her strengths and weaknesses with the material. While building on their strengths, I attempt to change their perspective towards the course material that seems difficult. For example, if a student is struggling with multiplication but has superior addition skills, I will use addition to help them understand multiplication.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an Elon University Love School of Business graduate I have extensive training in all aspects of business including Finance, Accounting, and Marketing. In addtion I have excellent written and oral communication skills from outside courses and previous tutoring experience.
Though I have no official experience as a tutor, being the oldest of three children there was always an oppurtunity to help with homework. II believe that writing is a craft that anyone can learn--anad that the craft can be found in revisison: in re-shaping draft after draft. I also believe that most people are smart. i've had high school students who read at a 3rd grade level--but they were smart when addressing subjects of interest to them. I teach by starting with the familiar--what students understand--and then buiding on it. As a second career I wanted to put something back into my community. So as I went back to school a few years ago to complete my MBA, I thought that I wanted to teach in public schools. I was a non-traditional teacher. I therefore had to work as a substitute teacher and as a tutor because I am not yet certified. So I worked as Coach(Academic K-12)and I enjoy it.
