I want to help those who may not otherwise speak, vocalize their own narratives and cultural idiosyncrasies through discovery of literature and language. Empathy, which is vital to tutoring, is as vital, if not more, to teaching. I not only do my best to usher students gently through the writing process, I shut up and listen to their stories. To see a student light up at that moment of realization when they finally understand a concept, or to watch their fear for English melt just a little bit, is, for me, an immeasurable honor. A Little Bit About Me...

As a Mormon/LDS missionary I attended the LDS Mission Training Center and then spent 2 years in the Tokyo area. I studied and spoke Japanese daily. I taught a message in Japanese daily. Also I spoke to congregations in Japanese regularly. Following that time, 2004-2006, I studied at BYU (acclaimed for its language success). Here I have earned 20 credit hours of Japanese with an A- average. I am not fluent but I am very good.
I believe teaching is a noble profession. As a missionary I was a teacher for two years. There was a specified message about Jesus Christ and the incredible potential of mankind. Also, I taught English there weekly to natives (including a class for children only -- I made all curriculum up as we went). As a recent graduate of BYU in Business Management (finance emphasis) I have been able to show excellence in my own school work. I have a major GPA of 3.85 (including many Accounting and Finance classes) as well as receiving a 4.0 while taking the “finance core” classes. Receiving a score of “5” on both the Calculus AB and BC tests during high school prepared me for college. Previous tutoring includes training new workers for employment positions (including a customer service representative and a restaurant position). While serving a 2-year mission for the LDS church I was able to train other missionaries. Much of this training included a personalized one-on-one teaching of how to approach, teach, and perform the necessary work.
