A Little Bit About Me...

It is my belief that most students that seek out the extra help of a tutor have a much greater capacity to learn than they realize. It is upon that belief that all of my tutoring is centered around. My long term goal for most students is to show them how to be self-learners so that at some point they tell me to stop coming because they don't need a tutor anymore. This is done primarily by weaving study skills and tips into the lessons. This helps the students be more efficient with their studying. I also spend a lot of time de-mystifying the subject material. This makes the material easier to understand, which in turn improves the student's self-confidence, which in turn makes the next set of material easier for the student to learn. I have taught with students from the age of 6 to the age of 29 in all subjects from math and reading, to philosophy and history. I am relaxed and zealous when teaching students. I have a known record at teaching my guitar students all the basic chords within 3 lessons. I also have raised the SAT scores with every students that I tutored for the SAT's. My record speaks for itself. I realize when a student is getting tired and wore down. I make sure to take small breaks and ask questions I know they will be interested in. This gives them trust in me and relaxation from the teaching process that can sometime become rigorous after awhile. It is my duty to improve my students grades and scores.
