A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style can be expressed as hands on, or even proactive. I like to get to know my kids and figure out how I can best teach them. There are three different learning styles and I like to involve each of them when I teach. It's important to me to have a good balance when I teach to ensure that each kid gets what they need from me. I believe that this strategy can be applied to the classroom as well.
My teaching experience has been centered around a field of a court. Since the age of thirteen I have been helping a wide age group of kids learn to play soccer and basketball. When I was in high school I helped to volunteer at camps often running my own drills and games. Continuing into my college career I continued to teach soccer. I love working with children. I believe they all have the potential to be great at whatever they choose – sometimes they just need that extra hand- and that is what I can offer. I am patient, easy going, kind and encourage laughter. My goal is to engage children in the things they are naturally interested in and to make learning fun.
I am currently involved in the public school system as a Literacy Tutor for grades k-3. I have earned a BA in Journalism and English and have decided to continue on to pursue my Masters degree in Education.
