As a recent graduate of the CSU East Bay chemistry program, I was given the opportunity to have personal instruction from many different professors. I was able to graduate within four years while working a part time job as an ice hockey official and participating in undergraduate research. I strongly believe that all mathematical and statistical concepts can be explained and illustrated by the appropriate example. If a student understands how a certain statistical problem looks like in a small example, he or she will be able to describe the problem and the solution in an abstract formulation as well. I put a lot of effort in finding easy examples and then proceed in as little steps as necessary to the more abstract formulation. Also, I make sure to take the student with me on every of these steps. If tutor and student find the right pace, math and statistics can become a fascinating journey.
