15 years experience in a broad variety of subjects!

I have a way of perceiving the difficulty the student has, and am able to explain the material in a simple way that makes it easy for students to grasp. I have a good rapport with my student and have had several that have told me that I am the best teacher they have ever had(which didn't hurt my ego!!) I also have a good sense of humor which puts students at ease- and it is proven that a tense mind can not learn, only when the student loses their anxiety over the material will they absorb it!

My comments on tutoring Political Science : One of the few classes I wish I could retake in college.

I have always approached a teaching lesson as a learning opportunity. Learning is a fundamental skill. If you don't have your basic fundamentals, your student will have difficulty advancing. So, I always start with basic fundamentals such as; note taking, study skills, and comprehension! All sciences demand the ability to link concepts together. Ex. cells make up tissues, tissues make up organs, organs make up organ systems,etc.....! By understanding the make-up of cellular structures and relating that to tissue functions the students can fully understand a subject. This proves true with all subjects. By impowering the student with good base fundamentals, my students find it easier to link concepts together.

Learning Can be Fun!

I like to allow the student to read the material once and clarity any areas that need more explanation. Then I will allow them to answer questions from the material read and help them where needed to choose the correct answer and understand the reason for the answers. I like to reward a certain level of correct answers with points that can be redeemed for interesting small prizes. As an undergraduate I attended Elon University in North Carolina. During my tenure there I tutored at the local elementary school as well as with the Boys and Girls Club. Writing has been a very important part of my life since I was little. My father is an author with over 20 young adult books published and he instilled in me the passion to read and write from a young age. I still edit his books to this day.
The reason I am involved in education is because I love the process of learning.
