As a recent college graduate, I was very determined to be one of the first college graduates in my family. I earned my BS in Psychology with a minor in Sociology in three years due to my determination, focus, and dedication. I am currently persuing my Masters in Education. I have also learned extensive grammatical and syntax skills due to a large number of research papers and essays in many various areas of study. I enjoy teaching and do my best to make learning fun and easy for my pupils. I approach lessons by letting the student realize how and why the lesson is important and how it relates to their lives. I firmly believe everyone can learn; the style in which they learn may differ from others, but given the correct approach, all teachers/tutors can be successful. I am a well qualified music teacher. My teaching experience has been in the classroom and privately. I earned my BA in music and was trained vocally for six years in sacred and secular styles of music. I also was trained for fourteen years in piano. More recently, I have taught piano and voice privately. I am experienced with the organ and saxaphone as well. I love working with children and adults of all ages. Most of my professional teaching experience was with Lexington/Richland School District 5, where I substituted and taught General Music from 1997-2008. During that time I worked with students from Pre-K - 5th grade, and I enjoyed interacting with each age group. One interesting thing about teaching music was how the lessons often carried over to other subjects, so that in music class we also worked with math and science (music theory), reading (song lyrics), and social studies (music origins and styles).
