My teaching style depends on the student. I am comfortable with trying different study methods in order to figure out why my student is having trouble with a particular subject. I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I love being able to help students feel comfortable with the material they are studying. I have tutored numerous times throughout college, and would like to get back into tutoring students because I find it to be rewarding. As a student who went from living in Germany and being taught that there are many ways of getting the right answer, to moving to America where everything is taught in one way, I have learned to incorporate my tutoring skills to the need of each individual student. When one teaches speaking, the great problem is volume. Our teachers often get the student to memorize the lines, which is good but exhausting. I try rather to teach the student the old Roman ideal: hold on to the idea, and the words will follow. I also teach the student to focus on the members of the audience, one by one, thus avoiding panic. I also believe that it is vital that a student be taught how to modify his talk as he goes along.
