A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been driven to do more with my life. I have always had goals in life and often times pursued them. My BS degree in Biology was one of these goals I have accomplished. In my education at the University of South Dakota, I have learned many skills that I know I will use in the future. Some of these sills not only include the studies of Biology and Chemistry, but also my Spanish speaking skills have improved. A Little Bit About Me...

I just graduated in May 2009 with my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and am currently working on obtaining my Masters Degree in Human Factors Psychology. I also obtained minor degrees in English and Entrepreneurial Studies at USD. Consequently I believe that through my studies at USD I have exemplary skills in the area of critical thinking / writing and possess a plethora of knowledge that I can pass onto a younger generation. I have been teaching for the last fifteen years. I started my teaching career in the junior high grades and then decided that my preference would be with the younger children. I have taught both second and third grade and throughly loved both levels. I have attended various classes and workshops relating to helping children learn to read and love doing it. I have taken the South Dakota Reading Curriculum both at the second and third grade levels. I have tutored children and for four years ran the summer reading program for the Beresford area children.
I have become very familiar with the differentiated instruction model of teaching students. Each child has an individual way of learning and it is up to the teacher to discover that way and lead or drive instruction with that in mind.
