My comments on tutoring Desktop Publishing : I have worked with publishing programs since 1990 with large publishing companies.

I am a strong creative, strategic and conceptual thinker with a deep understanding of the digital space and a genuine love for design and technology. As the Creative and Marketing Director I have successfully directed creative and technical teams, client relationships and new business opportunities. I enjoy leading and inspiring as much as I do rolling my sleeves up and getting the job done. I initiated the creation of a design and pre-press studio (from the ground up) for which we could take advantage of the demand for full turn-key print and design jobs. With hands on experience specializing in branding, positioning, corporate identity, packaging, web design and development, visual communication, interface design, photography, magazine layouts and print collateral.
I work normally in groups to mentor staff/clients or students to understand the importance of great design th ... read more

Best Tutoring By Far.....

I enjoy teaching any age student, but more than that I get satisfaction when that student attains their goal. I believe in using the Socratic method of teaching and allowing the student to get their own answers rather than just telling them. I seek to develop and foster great students who will attain excellent careers. This method can be adapted to fit any student of any age.
I started tutoring students middle and high school prior to graduating college. I have taught part-time college students at various institutions since 1996. I also have worked as an independent tutor part-time. I have more than 30 years of experience teaching as a one-on-one tutor and as a college instructor. I currently teach at Wake Tech Community College. I have taught at Strayer University, Campbell University, Mount Olive College, Durham Tech Community College, Central Carolina Community College and Vance ... read more

My comments on tutoring Desktop Publishing : Creating publications for print or for online delivery using InDesign or Publisher

I have been in the field of education for 10+ years. I taught Computer Science courses that included Web Design and New Media, Desktop Publishing and Computer Graphics. I like building my own computer since the ones I see on the retail are not powerful enough for my own purposes. I have designed websites and managed the websites including the one of the school where I previously worked. Managing it means doing some tweaking of the HTML codes and the CSS. I do a lot of Graphics and photo editing since I also shoot a lot of pictures. I Have design posters, logos, and animations for web ads. I keep learning new stuff since technology keeps on advancing and evolving.

Teacher with gentle touch - Very good at explaining new subj

Web manager and usability analyst as well as instructor. I have been asked at various jobs to teach training classes to my peers because of my ability to deliver an easy to understand lesson. I've been told I am very good at explaining a topic that someone has no experience with at all. I am on contract with NC States Computer Training Unit.
I try to find the teaching style that is going to work for the student. Are they visual? Do they need to touch to learn? Finding out how to teach them and then helping them learn skills for independent study are just as important as the material.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching and working with HS and college students. For me every student is a different young person, which should be treated individually, according to his abilities and style of learning. A teacher needs to be patient and a good observer to identify the talents and skills of a student and then use them to provide the best teaching service for this particular student. Building self-confidence and interest in the subject of study in my students are two important parts of my style of teaching.
I have earned my Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Technology in Wroclaw, Poland. For some more years I worked there, where I loved teaching students and doing scientific research. Looking for new challenges I accepted an offer to join College of Engineering at NC State University as a visiting professor. After a few years, when my contract expired, I got a posi ... read more

As an academic counselor in composition at Catawba College I was able to assist in the enhancement of writing skills for both day and evening students for upwards of two years. I worked with a range of genres from analytical papers, formal speeches, to senior theses for the Writing Center. I documented the progress of the students and corresponded with professors. My bachelor’s degree is in English and I have a double concentration--Writing and Literature.
I enjoy working with all levels of learners. While in college I tutored a high school student who was hearing impaired. Although it was challenging, I found his progress to be rewarding in the end. Furthermore, I enjoy tutoring young children who are just coming to terms with reading. I was a nanny at one point in my life and took the children to the library often. It is truly amazing to watch the world of literature come alive i ... read more

I am passionate about teaching. I prefer teaching foreign language through a hands-on approach. Everyone is capable of learning, we just have to find their learning style. With foreign language, I use flashcards, simple songs and interesting stories to incorporate the language. My goal is to get the student to retain the language, not just memorize it. I show my students that they can benefit in careers and life through the knowledge of a second language. If the student can see foreign language as an asset and skill they can use for the rest of their life, they are more likely to put in the effort it takes to master the language.

A Little Bit About Me...

While obtaining my Master's degree in Accounting, I worked as a Professor's Assistant which involved substitute teaching, research, and grading exams and homework. I have a natural ability in working with young people as well as exceptional communication, organization, presentation and people skills. As a Team Lead at IBM, I had many opportunities to train and teach others on computer systems, processes, policies and procedures, and many other issues. I have also volunteered as a mentor through IBM's Mentor Place program in the past and currently with Wake County Public Schools.

After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Journalism, I was a staff reporter at a daily newspaper in High Point, NC, where I covered Guilford County's public school system and wrote feature stories. During that time, I volunteered as a tutor to a first-grade student who needed help with reading and writing. I moved to the Raleigh area and took a job with the American Kennel Club, where I supervised the staff of a call center and provided service to Spanish-speaking customers. I am currently working as a freelance writer, taking care of my son, and seeking part-time work that will allow me to put my experience and talents to use.
I've enjoy teaching opportunities through volunteer work with Communities in Schools, my church's nursery and Sunday School classes, a summer theater program in my hometown, and as a mother. I think a teacher's main role is to recognize a student's ... read more

I have been teaching since 1990. I spent one year teaching English and Women's Studies at a private high school. At the college and high school level, I have taught dance which includes writing about dance, dance history, arts administration classes and theory classes. I also have extensive experience teaching and tutoring ESL students in the US and abroad.
I view teaching not only as an extension of my creative work, but also as a continuation of my research of composition and performance. A good teacher is like a skilled composer, arranging and presenting ideas, crafting and shaping an environment where a student can best be challenged, and learn to challenge themselves. I teach in much the same way as I improvise; I bring to each class, indeed each student, an openness, compassion and commitment to the present moment. I am charismatic and inspire a joy and excitement about ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

There are currently huge gaps in the education of our children, which if left unaddressed, cause struggle and difficulties for them down the road, and ultimately in life. I am passionate about filling in those gaps and doing my part to ensure every child or adult is given the educational help they are entitled to. I feel it is important to be attentive to the individual learning style of each student and I enjoy the challenge of finding different ways to take complex ideas and deconstruct them into simple and useful components. I believe in shaping information to connect ideas in a more fluid and organic way. I have a very lively, animated personality so I like to make learning a fun experience.

More About This Tutor...

Coming from the influence of a family of educators, I realized early on my affinity towards teaching. In addition to my college degrees, I have been very involved in the 'summer camp' experience. Over six summers, I worked with two summer camps to teach various physical and academic curricula to grade groups K-5, 6-8, 9-12. In graduate school, I was given the opportunity to spearhead a class of undergraduates, splitting lecture time with the professor. I am currently writing my thesis (under review of faculty) to be published on the "Architectural History of NC State University and the Areas Surrounding" it. During my time in university, I have tutored students in chemistry, astronomy, English, grammar, Spanish, math, history and several other general education elements.
I believe that information accessibility should be emphasized and placed in bold. I would consider my style pers ... read more

I see the role of the educator as a pivotal element in not only academic success, but social and cultural success as well. Therefore my teaching skills often incorporate pockets of knowledge from various disciplines. I also believe that the role of the teacher can also mirror the role of the student, as both teacher and student can learn from each other. I believe that children should be given the necessary tools that foster intellectual curiosity, so as to sharpen creativity and independent thinking. My approach to teaching is not to just impart information, but to impart information in such a way that will lend for students to engage in questioning and realization of answers. Because after all, learning is discovery!
My academic and professional histories champion my lack of formal teaching experience. Upon graduating from NC State with Psychology and Journalism degrees in Dec ... read more
