A Little Bit About Me...

Working with children has always been somewhat natural to me, probably due to the fact I spent so many of my summers teaching, playing, and caring for them. I was a camp counselor for five summers and my primary duty was the classroom. I was in charge of arts and crafts and teaching lessons/themes of the week. The children I worked with were ages three through eight, and two of the children were autistic. Constructive criticism and co-operative learning learning are very important to me. I feel that visual and kinesthetic teaching methods are the most successful. I am very patient and laid back, but at the same time I will not let any one fall behind and I am determined to find success in every student.

Taught full time special education at Bakersfield City Schools and elementary at Muroc School District. Taught high school English classes full time. Substitute taught at L.A. County schools and Lancaster School District. Substitute during 2009-2010 year at Humboldt County special education schools also elementary and high school in Ferndale, CA. Taught 16 years at the college / university level
Easy going, open minded, sense of humor, flexible, enjoy teaching at all levels. Each student has a unique gift and with an opportunity, patience and caring they can explore the world of learning. I have been trained in multiple methods of teaching and have had the opportunity to utilize those skills at levels K-12, also at the college /university level.
