Even as a student i helped my fellow students to understand and grasp the subjects they were having difficulty with. i can generaly spinn the information into a subject matter that interests the individual or just explain it in an easier to understand manner, offted they just get lolst in the language of teaching. i minnored in math, and majorred in science and agriculture in high school, ansd took veternary technology in colledge this involved mostly biologies and lab technigues.
i have never taught professionaly, but have assisted fellow students. the methods i useed to help them were ither to incorporate the subject matter into a sumject that they had a personal interest in, or manny time i found that they just didnot understand the language of the subject so i reexplained it in simpler terms and they got it just fine.

A Little Bit About Me...

I offer students a patient listening ear so I can encourage their strengths and understand their weaknesses. Often by asking questions, doing practice problems and just listing to the student's logic, I can tweak their thought process so they better understand the material. I am so proud of a student who begins to understand something they thought was too difficult. If a student has a willingness to learn I can share techniques to make learning easier. I help students develop a step-by-step process they can apply to each type of problem. I find that using charts and tables can help to organize complex problems. Even a wrong answer often gets partial credit if the work shown is neat and the teacher can follow the student's logic.
I am committed to achieving excellence in education and helping others to do so too. For four years I tutored Accounting, Statistics and other college math ... read more

More About This Tutor...

During my studies at SUNY Buffalo I tutored in Regents Math which I also took when I was in high school. In Virginia Tech I was a Graduate Research Assistant. I ran Aerospace Engineering labs, assigning work to undergraduate students which I graded. I was available for multiple hours per week assisting students in their homework and lab reports. Since then I have been a math tutor in calculus. Engineering requires a solid understanding of math from the basics such as algebra and geometry to more difficult calculus and linear algebra. What I have learned in both mathematics and physics is used almost on a daily basis which is why I know the subjects so well.
I believe in a pretty simple rule; repeat, repeat, repeat. Learning math and physics through example is the best way. Repeating these examples is a sure way to success. They student may not like math or physics, but o ... read more

After a 20 year business career I returned to school and earned a Masters of Education Degree (QPA 4.0). I worked as an elementary teacher for four years, but was unable to secure a permanent position. I returned to school and have earned certification in High School Chemistry (GPA: 3.84) and Physics (QPA: 3.11). I have also taught one year of Chemistry and am currently completing my 2nd year teaching middle school science, but am still searching for a permanent position. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching is a skill that requires flexibility. As a college student, I have tried many different studying techniques and have succeeded in finding one suitable for my style. Teaching requires different styles and techniques until one is successful. I have observed that the "fun facts" taught by professors are what are most remember able. I am more than happy to try different teaching skills until one is suitable. I work well with communicating the subjects truly enjoy when a student learns. I have used tutors as an outlet for help in the past and I hope to be able to assist in obtaining an enhanced education.
As an infectious disease researcher, I have applied skills obtained since high school. My chemistry and biology skills were necessary to make bases, induce parasite inoculations, and process my data by ELISAs, DNA Extractions, Chromatography, Crystallography, and PCRs. ... read more

Teaching is such a rewarding experience. It is an amazing feeling when you help a student learn something that they previously had been struggling with. My goal is to help the student by becoming interested in the material. If the student is interested in the material, they will have a better chance of learning it. I hope I can have the opportunity to make a difference in many students lives.
I have an Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor degree in Mathematics Education. I was a math tutor and math teaching assistant at Daemen College. I completed two student teaching placements in mathematics classrooms during my education. I also completed a volunteer experience at Seneca Babcock Preschool where I aided the teacher in helping the children learn colors and numbers. When I was a senior in high school, I taught Spanish to 2nd graders for a semester long project.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a training manager, I often taught classes to large groups of individuals on subjects such as statistics, Microsoft Office programs, and teamwork, problem solving and quality concepts. Further, as an engineer, I did a lot of one-on-one teaching of job instructions and job changes. I further informally taught other engineers how to perform different tasks in Word and Excel.
Although I am an engineer by education, I have often found myself in a teaching role of all groups of people. I have often been complimented for my tremendous patience and ability to work with others to teach them some new information or concept. I believe in "teaching and doing" where the person is shown something and then they have to do it themselves to help reinforce the concept I'm trying to teach them.

A Little Bit About Me...

I would say that the greatest personal attribute that the Lord has given me when it comes to teaching is patience. I allow the student the time that it takes them in order for them to "get it" without pressuring them. I also like to make the material as simple as possible by teaching in a manner where I like to emphasize understanding as opposed to just being able to do it. And typically I find the best way to offer enlightenment to the student is to take whatever concept it is that I am trying to convey to them and draw an analogy to something basic that they do understand to help bridge the gap to the new concept (the same thing that the Lord Jesus Christ did - John 3:12).

I graduated cum laude from D'Youville College with a BS degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. At D’Youville in 2001-2003 I tutored advanced sciences. The most complex course was Gross Anatomy in which I worked with students on both coursework and laboratory dissection. I also tutored physics and biological chemistry, my area of particular interest. I have approximately four years of research experience and published a paper while at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. I have worked in Organic Chemistry, physical chemistry, molecular biology and microbiology. I also have experience with standardized tests such as GRE and MCAT.

A Little Bit About Me...

Most my experience with teaching has been on the peer level therefore it has always been easy for me to relate to the students I was helping. Having recently gone through a difficult degree I feel my experience with learning good greatly help other students realize that even though it may not seem like it they can achieve their dreams too. I am a very hands on learner and have always brought that to any one that I was helping through visual aids or actually doing an experiment. I think all students struggle with different subjects and need help from time to time, my goal is to make students understand that and have an enjoyable learning experience.
