A Little Bit About Me...

i have never taught professionaly, but have assisted fellow students. the methods i useed to help them were ither to incorporate the subject matter into a sumject that they had a personal interest in, or manny time i found that they just didnot understand the language of the subject so i reexplained it in simpler terms and they got it just fine.
Even as a student i helped my fellow students to understand and grasp the subjects they were having difficulty with. i can generaly spinn the information into a subject matter that interests the individual or just explain it in an easier to understand manner, offted they just get lolst in the language of teaching. i minnored in math, and majorred in science and agriculture in high school, ansd took veternary technology in colledge this involved mostly biologies and lab technigues.

I love short instruction/lecture periods followed by hands on activities or practice problems in class, allowing me to monitor students and minimize frustration experienced by long homework asignments.
I recently retired from Portville Central School after teaching 31 years here in New York State. I am certified in Biology/Gene Science, Chemistry, and Physics. I was a mentor for the State Education Department for 10 years and have attended conferences all over the country for both chemistry and physics techniques and new practices. I am fluent with computers and use Vernier interfaces and probes to collect and analyze data for both subject areas. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching and working with children not only educates them but it educates myself in the process. I get to touch up on materials that the children are learning, as well as learn better ways to educate students. Patience is what I believe is the most important aspect of teaching. Children can become unfocused very easily. When children are distracted it may be very difficult to get them focused. Taking your time and making sure they refocus, can actually save time. If they are unfocused and miss a part of what is instructed, they will be confused throughout the whole process. It helps to be patient with the educating process. A Little Bit About Me...

During my studies at SUNY Buffalo I tutored in Regents Math which I also took when I was in high school. In Virginia Tech I was a Graduate Research Assistant. I ran Aerospace Engineering labs, assigning work to undergraduate students which I graded. I was available for multiple hours per week assisting students in their homework and lab reports. Since then I have been a math tutor in calculus. Engineering requires a solid understanding of math from the basics such as algebra and geometry to more difficult calculus and linear algebra. What I have learned in both mathematics and physics is used almost on a daily basis which is why I know the subjects so well.

After a 20 year business career I returned to school and earned a Masters of Education Degree (QPA 4.0). I worked as an elementary teacher for four years, but was unable to secure a permanent position. I returned to school and have earned certification in High School Chemistry (GPA: 3.84) and Physics (QPA: 3.11). I have also taught one year of Chemistry and am currently completing my 2nd year teaching middle school science, but am still searching for a permanent position. I also have completed 80% of the required coursework for an MS in Physics Education.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is to have a set of problems made up for the students to observe as examples to help understand certain chapters. I will assign additional problems if needed and focus on the subject matter that is the hardest for the individual to understand.
I have taken statistics and gotten an A in the course and still have all course materials to give a general overview of statistics and how to use SPSS. I am knowledgeable on the software and would be able to answer questions on statistics because of how well I did and how I used to help others who struggled with the class.

Further, as an engineer, I did a lot of one-on-one teaching of job instructions and job changes. I further informally taught other engineers how to perform different tasks in Word and Excel.
