A Little Bit About Me...

I was in a program called "Study Buddies" all four years at high school. I would devote a couple afternoons a week tutoring middle school students (and eventually high school students). During this time I would help them study for tests, complete assigned work, or help clarify any material that the student didn't understand. Also, I helped these students develop their writing and grammar skills. Starting my junior and senior year of high school, I began "one on one" tutoring with selected individuals. Study buddies was a program where several students would show up and the helpers would assist accordingly, but when I began tutoring I specifically met with them at assigned times. I believe that every child has the ability to be a successful learner, and I enjoy watching my students grow and improve at different paces. As a graduate from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, I have been well prepared in my chosen fields. I have bachelor degrees in both Exercise & Sport Science: Fitness, and Spanish, through which I have acquired a vast knowledge of health and fitness. I have also studied abroad in Spain, and lived and worked in Lima, Peru for 6 months upon graduation from college. This has exposed me to the Hispanic culture, increased my Spanish skills, and given me experience teaching English to speakers of other languages. In addition, I have gained extensive reading and writing skills, along with a thorough knowledge of music/music theory throughout my education.
