I prefer working as a collaborative team with teaching staff/specialists. I believe most of my success comes from continued conversations and ongoing discussions about best practices during staff meetings and professional development workshops. I believe if we can integrate content with cross-curricular themes and skills such as writing across the curriculum in all subjects, not just during the language arts block, All students can access prior knowledge and reframe their thinking when appropriate. Once we establish accountability through state standards, we need to teach one child at a time, at their own level and pace and eliminate lessons that do not move students toward meeting the standards. A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently attending the University of Maine in order to receive my Masters of Arts in Teaching for Secondary Education in Life Science. I am currently certified as and Ed. Tech 3 in the state of Maine and will be receiving my teaching certificate when I graduate in June, 2010. I have worked with children often over the last few years but most recently I have acted as a tutor (for most subjects) for Penobscot County Job Corps in Bangor, Maine and as a student teacher in the Oakland, Maine school system.
