A Little Bit About Me...

. Knowing students as people is extremely important when teaching as it allows for a teacher to choose methods that work best for the individual student (learning styles and multiple intelligences come in to play here). Students should feel both safe and comfortable in their learning environment so that they may reap the most benefits from education. I believe that all students maintain the right to learn in an environment that is safe as well as conducive to learning. All students are interested in something and it is imperative that we, as teachers, find that something and mold it so that it fits to the education needs of the students. As a writer, I spent my early years refining my grammar skills and continued on this path in college, graduate school and in my professional life. I am a published poet and was accepted to attend the 2003 Breadloaf Young Writer's Conference. I I enjoy teaching students of all abilities and specialize in working with gifted and talented youth and youth who are interested in exploring the world in an experiential way.
