I teach to the student. I find exactly what their strengths are and incorporate it in some way to learn something new. I spent a year as a Substitute Teacher in Lincoln, NE. I then took a year and a half break from teaching to recruit for a small college. I went back into teaching as a grade 7-12 mathematics teacher. I was responsible for the 7th grade through pre-calculus courses at Wheatland Public Schools in Madrid Nebraska. This school was then combined into Grant Public Schools. I am also a strong technical trainer in my current role and provide necessary computer and analytical training to all new associates at the current company I work for.

My teaching style varies with skill level. Some children need reinforcement schedules while others just need help puting their foot in the right direction. I let my students know that learning is a team effort, instilling that they are not in this alone and that their success is exciting for myself as well. I believe that this approach helps instill a positive outlook on studying and learning, which will help my students succeed without my help later on in life. I graduated with a Biopsychology degree or otherwise known as Behavioral Neuroscience. This degree enabled me to study organic and inorganic chemistry, biology (immunology, biochemistry etc.), math (statistics, calculus) and 1 year of physics. Every student has different needs and learns in a unique way, so it is important for me to teach in both visual and more concrete forms depending on the pupil. In my opinion, being a teacher is more about being a continual learner than it is about banking knowledge into the mind of a subject, and as a constructivist I look to build a lasting relationship with each of the people I tutor; I feel this approach is both more rewarding for myself as the teacher, but also more productive for the student as it is akin to my personal philosophy that a pupil "does not care what you know until they know that you care." Most of my experience has been as an engineer. I have worked on projects in Europe, Asia, and all over North America. I got involved tutoring high school students while my sons were in high school. Recently, I completed an MA in Education, and taught science and math for about a year and a half in a couple of Louisiana High Schools. I have a broad background for providing real-world examples of implementations of math and science. I enjoy seeing expressions of accomplishment when students truly grasp various concepts. I expect and demand "excellence," recognizing that "excellence" is a term relative to the student.
