I love working with students and it is such a joy to watch them learn. I understand that every student has different needs and learns things in different ways and at their own pace. With the combination of my education and my work experience, I have developed a strong understanding languages and communication. I have received two Bachelor's degrees: a BA in English and a BA in German. I have also spent time overseas, teaching English as a second language, and experience which has helped me develop the skills to commmunicate not only the "rules" of the language (proper usage, grammar, etc.) but also to help my students develop the abilities to determine on their own how it should be used.

I graduated from university in the top 2% of my graduating class, then went on to earn a masters in Comparative Literature. The Pennsylvania State University awarded my a graduate teaching fellowship for the duration of my masters studies. This fellowship allowed me to teach two college level courses in world literature, English composition and rhetoric, and French. In 2005, I moved to Hawaii to take a full time job as a language arts instructor at a well known private school. I taught there for four years and headed the deparment during my last year. Education has always been my passion. While earning my Bachelor's degree at the University of California, Santa Cruz, I was approached by a professor and asked to work as a teaching assistant with her graduate (M.A. and Ph.D. level) students. I was concurrently hired as a tutor and supplemental instructor for math, economics, and business courses. While working towards my M.B.A at Humboldt State, I taught numerous courses in the business discipline. A Little Bit About Me...

As a Humboldt State University Student I was buried in English for Eight hours a day, five full years. My emphasis was in YOUNG ADULT LITERATURE, and I have read and reread all the books in the California State High School Curriculum multiple times. I have worked as a tutor for Junior High School children, College English students of all ages, and taught special education at Arcata High School to small groups of special needs kids, who want to learn/read/understand English better.
