I enjoy working in both one-to-one and classroom/band environments. I have a background in brass and percussion as well as music theory and I am a great believer in widening learners' horizons to what music will give my students both now and for their entire lives. I have tutored students from across the world in one-to-one and classroom situations. My recorded works include a bass trombone concerto (Simón Bolívar Orchestra). I am an adjudicator at band contests. In February 2008 I was invited to act as the musical director an impromptu massed band of 300 amateur brass band players in London's Trafalgar Square. I believe that all students want to learn and feel successful. I also believe that all students can learn so long as the materials are available to them in a form that is most compatible with their individual learning styles. My most important charge, along with helping those I tutor to "get" the materials, is to help them analyze their own styles of learning, identify what is successful for them and what is not, and help them create new strategies which might meet with more consistent success, both short and long term.
