I am a few years out of high school, and I've taken several college classes. My AP knowledge spans almost every subject. I can help with almost all high school level classes and below. The various sciences are probably my best subjects, however my knowledge of Biology is fairly limited. I have tutored a few High School Freshman before in a program called "Senior Mentoring" I have also helped out a few family friends to get the grade to graduate.
This really depends on the subject, however, I like to do drills to keep basic skills sharp, and to learn new skills. Each student is different, and will need slightly adjusted methodology. I'm also very open to suggestion.

I have taught ESL for 17 years to children and adults from all over the world. I have a strong command of language arts and am experienced at teaching literacy, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, essay writing, phonics, pronunciation, etc. I coordinate the after school enrichment program and annual play at Earl LeGette Elementary School. Having finished a financial planning course, I have also recently brushed up on my math skills. I have a well-rounded education and am constantly learning as I tutor my own children with their homework.
My teaching style involves fun and an active student. Self-discovery is the best way to learn and retain knowledge. I see myself as the facilitator; I give my students the tools, so they can figure out problems on their own and become more self-reliant. A Little Bit About Me...

As a college graduate with both a bachelor's and master's degree, I have always been seeking excellence in learning. I have, over the years written many papers, reports, and essays, and consequently have learned and used many writing skills in many contexts. I have written academic papers, mental health reports, and sermons. For the past 20+ years in my work as a pastor and mental health rehab specialist I have worked directly with youth and children in a teaching role, healping them to learn about themselves and to express it verbally and in writing.
I enjoy teaching and see it as one of my gifts. In all of my jobs I've seen it as my goal to help others learn and grow. I believe that everyone is a natural learner, everyone is curious. Each of us has a different learning style and I am sensitive to that in each person that I teach. I am a naturally calm and friendly person a ... read more

I have experience working with students of all ages and I thoroughly enjoy the challenge each person brings. I treat each student according to his/her needs and I look for the most effective ways he/she learns. I ask the student questions that lead to his/her discovery of the process, steps and answer to the problem. With this method the student has the satisfaction of resolving the problem, encourages him/her to continue on to more difficult ones, and gives him/her the confidence to do his/her best!
As a Summa Cum Laude graduate, I have always valued academics and education. I began to share my drive for excellence through tutoring in high school. Statement of Teaching Style I feel that all learners should have access to the highest quality education possible. The object of education is to provide each student with the tools that will help them develop their individual talents. All students should be given an opportunity in a safe educational setting to demonstrate their talents. This opportunity also means giving every student a chance to show their full potential. Instructors must have a pleasant and enthusiastic attitude. Instructors must be accepting of all students regardless of ethnic background or other personal factors. An instructor should use a variety of instructional methods and delivery techniques to facilitate the learning process.

I love to teach, there is nothing more self rewarding then helping a person who is struggling to achieve something and helping them with their goals. I believe all students can find academic success somewhere if given the correct opportunities and surroundings. I firmly believe that I have been educated by some of the best and these educators have made a world of difference in my life and expectations. I would like to help students in the same way my educators helped me.

A Little Bit About Me...

I emphasize meaning in my instructional style. Rather than, say, inculcate a formula for comma us, I try to convey how comma use provides meaningful structure to an idea, i.e. the sentence. In the larger sphere of things, I believe in showing a student how a piece of literature--which may well include his or her own writing--is meaningful to himself. When this is accomplished, I have found that the "meaning" of the work provides the necessary impetus to motivate the student. As academic success is so inextricably linked with qualities such as interest and pertinacity, I emphasize the root cause: meaning.

All throughout my High School & College experience, I was inspired by Ancient World History. In addition to competing as a collegiate athlete, I have also traveled to Europe twice on educational study abroad programs, which has enabled me to gain a much deeper understanding. My degree contains an emphasis in Language which means I spent considerable time translating Latin and Ancient Greek texts. During the past eight years I have tutored in academics, trained students for their sport and was employed as a summer Instructor in Jr. Lifeguard programs and Aquatic sports programs. I am applying as a Latin teacher but I am also able to teach beginning French, Social Science, World History, Languages Arts & Reading Comprehension.
