As a lifelong learner I understand the importance of an effective teacher. I have been teaching and assisting college level classes for 2 years as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. I earned a Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University in 1984. My subjects of passion were math and science and I enjoy working with children who struggle in those areas. I have home schooled my son through the end of 12th grade and he was ready for college freshman classes at age 15. Starting in his second grade year, we were joined by a student who has learning disabilities. He also thrived in the tutorial teaching environment. My desire is to work with children who really desire to learn but need that extra time and encouragement to succeed.

I am practical and to the point. I explain the occurrence and give examples. Once I see the students grasp the concept or idea that we are discussing, then I give them more to build on the subject. I enjoy interactions and questions because it helps seal the information. As well, in the traditional style of how school is presented I like out loud repetition because it activates the memory brain pathways which helps with maximal retention.
