I earned a Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University in 1984. My subjects of passion were math and science and I enjoy working with children who struggle in those areas. I have home schooled my son through the end of 12th grade and he was ready for college freshman classes at age 15. Starting in his second grade year, we were joined by a student who has learning disabilities. He also thrived in the tutorial teaching environment. My desire is to work with children who really desire to learn but need that extra time and encouragement to succeed.
I have experience working with both audio/visual learners and a kinesthetic/tactile learner. A Little Bit About Me...

In my experience as a musician, I have found that teaching a subject I love can really inspire students to excel. It's necessary to spread our knowledge to others. My specialty is music, but I love to teach in general because kids need good mentors. Each child is different so I use an individualized approach to my teaching styles. We all learn differently whether we are auditory, visual, or kinesthetic learners. I asses the student and provide the material/exercises necessary in order to create the best learning experience possible.

Teaching is a great joy for me, as it is easy to see I love working with children of all ages. I enjoy the challenge that arises when teaching a group of children that learn in different ways. Understanding that it is important for all to learn, finding creative ways to get points across and bring the students into the topic has always been amazing. Engaging them in the subjects, not just talking to them, motivates them to be more attentive. This method also allows them to see what they know. A Little Bit About Me...

I was very interested in the science field early on through secondary school. My interest grew through undergraduate where I was heavy in research and tutoring introductory science courses such as survey of biochemistry and introduction to biology. As well, I mentored a group of school in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources on day to day activities. Through my concurrent enrollment at Johns Hopkins where I received my masters degree I spent a great deal of time teaching and lecturing on biochemical topics from introductory to advanced levels.
