I am fascinated with the concept that the more senses you utilize in teaching the better the child learns and retains what was taught. Some children respond to verbal teaching, while others prefer visual teaching, or others like to interact with their environment (the hands on approach). Each child has their own language. I believe that a teacher must do whatever is necessary to reach the student so that he can learn. Learning should be fun and enjoyable! When I begin tutoring a new student, my first objective is for us to get to know each other. The student will not be able to receive very much from me until he/she is comfortable with me. Once they feel that I care, they open up and the learning really begins! I am very interactive with the student and I want them to see me as a friend. I for one do not like to be told what to do and how to do it, that never helps me learn. It is better when you feel you are working towards a common goal with your superior. I want my student to feel free to talk to me about anything, and to enjoy learning the material he or she is struggling with. A Little Bit About Me...

After working as an environmental engineer for a couple of years, I realized that I wanted to join the teaching force. I was the rookie teacher of year for my school and then two years later, received the teacher of year nomination.
