I have no formal experience. I am employed by a church to provide child care during the service. The experience I have is with my own children and my extensive tour of the community college system. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very unique. I start off by just getting to know the student and having them get to know and trust me. I then build on that trust factor while helping the students with their homework. I connect well with students and they trust me. In the end, it seems to be the best way the students I work with learn and finish their work. Learning should be fun and not boring. It should be interactive and not just book work. If a student can experience learning first hand, they're bound to acquire enough knowledge to help them succeed.
I am a Fresno State graduate with my BA Degree in Liberal Studies. I'm currently in the Multiple-Subject Credential Program. All childern have the capacity to excel. It requires discovering the ways a student learns best (visual,auditory etc.) and applying that to teaching techniques with the expectation of success. I teach every lesson with a verbal, a visual, and written instruction so a student has every opportunity to retain knowledge and instruction. I love teaching and talking about grammar and literature and can pass that same love on to students as I have in the past.
While earning my degree I worked as a pre-school teacher creating lesson plans and activites that were age appropriate. I have two years experience in public school teaching English for grades 9-12, and one year experience teaching journalism, art, yearbook and English in a private school.

In a one-on-one situation, I prefer dialogue. Assuming the student does the assigned work before the session, I find that a informal, relaxed conversation on the subject matter at hand encourages the student to further explore the addressed topic. If I am familiar with the student's extra-curricular interests, I attempt to relate the subject matter to such interests. I find that questioning the student in a conversational manner produces the best results, as opposed to the more stringent (i.e. boring) task of fill-in-the-blank worksheets. For writing assignments, I ask the student to write a paragraph which we then go over line-by-line so the student has immediate feedback on any errors.
