I love working with students and it is such a joy to watch them learn. I understand that every student has different needs and learns things in different ways and at their own pace. As an undergraduate student at both my junior college and university, I was inspired to spread the joy of learning and understanding English. I have earned a BA in Global Studies and Maritime Affairs, which has enabled me to expand my knowledge base about international affairs and the maritime industry. This coming March I will graduate with a MS degree in Emergency Management. This degree has given me a fantastic background in understanding leadership and management techniques. During the past four to five years I have been employed as an English tutor by both the College of the Redwoods and the California Maritime Academy.

A Little Bit About Me...

I try to target problem areas that students are having. I encourage them to ask questions and stop me when I am explaining something in order for them to understand it better. It really puts a smile on my face when I can see their frustration melt away. There is no set style that I teach it just depends on where the students strengths and weaknesses lie. Mathematics and the sciences don't have to be near as difficult as they are made out to be, it's all about the problem solving process.
I worked at the Tutoring Club in Folsom, CA for 1 year. I tutored a variety of age groups, mostly high school age, in mathematics up through calculus, chemistry, biology and physics.
