I developed an interest in tutoring during the beginning of my sophomore year of college, when the math department needed calculus tutors. Although I was not a math major at the time, I enjoyed calculus and decided to apply. Along with tutoring college students, I volunteered at Girls’ Inc to tutor young girls in junior high with numerous subjects. After earning my BA in mathematics, I worked at the learning center of another university tutoring undergrads in various math classes. Most recently, I worked at a high school tutoring 9th-12th graders in math, English, and social studies.

I provided tutoring services in high school and college, thus gained much valuable experience. As such, the most popular question I received during university was "Why are you not an engineering major?" Through earning four BBA degrees in various areas of Accounting/Finance/IT in 3 years, I learned my area of excellence lies in logical material: mathematics, physics, programming, music, and others. The only exceptions are my BBA focus (primarily relying on memorization) and English: a well written essay is equivalent to the works of Mozart. I love teaching math and science to high school students up to early college levels. I have lots of experience and can be flexible in the way I teach based on the student style.
It’s important to be able to impart knowledge to the student smoothly and only to answer the asked questions. Too much information can cause a student to “overload”. This can make the student afraid to ask questions in the future or to think that the topic is so difficult. A good tutor will try to simplify things and brief the answers so he keeps the child interested to learn more.
