My teaching style can adapt to whatever my student needs very easily. The tutor can change, but the student cannot. I am a recently graduated IB/AP student. I have been a volunteer tutor almost everyday for the past four years and have tutored elementary, middle and high school students, even though I prefer elementary. Casual, but very effective. Employed at Oakland Community College 2010-2011. I have been a tutor at OCC since 2010, but have had a lot of private experience prior. My methods are very effective, yet unconventional. This serves both you and me very well because I like what I do and you get the knowledge you're seeking. I can always understand a student's individual needs because I have been around such a large variety of learning styles. Also, I believe that a "set" lesson plan is worthless for English because who's to say that everyone with a specific problem is not understanding it for the same reason? One person may not understand the use of paragraph formation for a completely different reason than the next.

The collaborative learning approach, where students are encouraged to discuss what and how they're learning, is most effective. Students tend to engage much better with course material when the instructor has discussions with them, as opposed to lecturing at them.
