My comments on tutoring Special Education : I have assisted in the classroom and one on one on field trips.

I have 4 years of elementary library aide experience, a small one on one group to help them to excel in reading, pinpointing areas of weakness and strengths, helping young readers succeed in comprehensive reading. I worked closely with our reading experts to test and evaluate the readers to mainstream them back into the classrooms of regular readers and instill the love of reading.
Repetitive reading that helps recognition and pronunciation, sounding out and following along with single reading. getting the group excited about the material we use by offering props. I have always excelled in most areas regarding reading and English. While in college all student were required to take tests that would direct them toward appropriate classes that would help them in several areas of study. It seems to me that everyone can learn, in different ways and at different times. My approach is to have several options of which approach will be successful. Being a 1:1 teacher allows me the freedom and time to work with a student on a concept in a number of ways until the cognition sets in for him. Being enthusiastic and excited about the learning experience is contagious. I always think about the teachers who were indifferent compared to the ones who were animated.
