I have played piano for over 40 years and have been a piano teacher for over 25 years. I studied classical piano but am comfortable with church music, broadway, pop, soft rock, and country and some jazz standards as well. I love teaching beginners and intermediate students and can take students to high level classical pieces. Some of my students started at the age of 3 and are still with me a few years later. I am consistent, and understanding, patient and warm. I use excellent methods and teach theory, technique,Hanon, performance, scales, and music for special occasions. I have taught PK- Exceptional student education for 10 years, K-12 music for 15 years, private piano for 25 years, private guitar for 10 years, private voice for 10 years and have also taught regular kindergarten, first grade and 6th grade, I am teaching Spanish now and I am bilingual (reading, writing and speaking)

Have been teaching the piano for over 20 years. From ages 5 to 70 I am passionate for all things musical from music theory to musical instruments. This comes out in my teaching and tutoring. I have been teaching theory, piano, guitar and drums with my own curriculum for twenty years. I graduated with double BA in Music Education and Music Performance in classical guitar from Florida International University in 1997. I have owned my private music lesson business since 1999 and now look forward to working with additional students through Wyzant. Being aware of my compassion to help children succeed, earned my PA teaching certification after graduating high school. During college I received special recognition for volunteer services affiliated with tutoring at a "homework clinic" located inner city. All my life I have worked/volunteered assisting children in some capacity or another It simply is part of who I am. I believe every child can and will succeed given the proper environment. I am a stong advocate for positive, rewarding, fun and exciting atmosphere. This includes focusing on the child's natural interests.

Teaching one-on-one is my forte. I can establish rapport quickly then ascertain what and how a person wants to learn in a time-efficient and respectful way. My approach is cordial give-and-take, with abundant humor and fun. It is important to have reperetoire of behaviors as an educator, clinician, parent and citizen. The challenge is knowing when to switch-up when the first tactic is not working. My aim is always to read the "message received and understood" light in a person's eyes, and the sense of mutual regard and appreciation in her face and body at the end of a session. Since 2nd grade, when my teacher sat me next to a 10-year old boy with Cerebral Palsy, it seems I have been called upon to instruct others.
