Teaching is not something I had initially aspired to but found I am a teacher and motivator by nature. I love the challenge of figuring what pieces, educational, each student is missing and helping them fill the their gaps to reach the next level and have things come together for them. I am very patient and try to make each session fun and interesting. I love helping people, particularly children, reach their full potential by becoming life-long learners. Whenever I meet with a student, whether it be one-on-oe or in the classroom, I strive to identify his/her learning style and to create a connection to the lesson to his/her future experiences in the world beyond the classroom. I believe that education is the key to creating citizens with a sense of self-efficacy and a belief that one man or woman can make a differnce.
While earning my MA in English, I spent two years tutoring students in English and training/mentoring other tutors. For the last two years, I have been designing and delivering trianing curriculum. I recently graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering. There I had the opportunity to work as a Teacher's Assistant for undergraduates, which included private instruction during office hours, help with homework, grading, and occasionally leading courses. In addition to this, I tutored privately in Systems Physiology. Prior to my graduate studies, I pursued my bachelor's degrees in biology (with a minor in chemistry) and German.
