i am a high school student. I have completed three years so far. I have always maintained A and B grades and recieved awards for attendance, grades, and extracurricular activities. I have always been bragged on about my personality, hard-work ethics, and ability to help others even when not asked. As a teacher, I know that each student/ person learns in a different manner. Due to this my teaching methods vary with every person. Once I graduated I was immediately hired as a long term substitute teacher in South Georgia. I wasn't offered a teaching job for the next school year so I moved here to Spartanburg, SC. I obtained a job at a headstart and a tutoring facility.Then in November 2012 I was hired on at SC School for the Deaf and the Blind. I have taught and tutored many students and adults in a variety of subjects. I enjoy tutoring in math the most because I love this subject. Although this is my favorite, I still enjoy helping people excel in troubling subject areas.

All students learn at different levels. I like to incorporate all the learning styles of students. Some learn by hands-on, others by listening, and some by writing. These are all used by me. Each student has their own learning style and a teacher has to help each find what works for each student and then incorporate this to meet the needs for that particular student. Education cannot be mass-produced. One style does not fit all. Reading is extremely important to the success of a student. Education is the most valuable tool and weapon to get out of poverty; and it is something no one can ever take away from you. I have 17 years in the classroom and 5 years of education to attain this. I believe everyone will respond well to individualized instruction when the tutor studies the student's learning style and offers the information in the form best suited to each learner. I am patient and encouraging with students. I work hard to find ways to present a subject so that each learner will find it interesting. I am the author of five historical novels and a number of articles, poems and short stories. I occasionally do short “residences” teaching Language Arts and Drama to special needs students in k-12 schools for VSA Arts of Florida. My graduate studies emphasized American and Tudor/Stuart History. My doctorate included a Criminal Justice minor. I enjoy teach with all different age levels. Most recently, I taught 4th grade science through the FSU Teach Program. It was fun and really showed me how to teach students and make the lessons engaging and fun. Its important to keep the child focused. My goal is to make sure a student learns something new everyday that she/he will remember. I achieved an AA degree at Florida Community College at Jacksonville. I am currently continuing my education at Florida State University where I am pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Biology. I will graduate in Spring of 2010.
