I volunteer for HOBY (Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar) every year. This program pushes facilitation, which is what I strive to do. I like to try to facilitate and push my students to ask questions and talk to me as a peer. I always try to give at least three compliments to every criticism because students are often too hard on themselves. I have been involved with the First Tee Program for over 10 years now. This program teaches children life lessons; such as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship through playing golf. This program is nationwide and has developed many young children into community leaders, respected business men/women and college athletes. I have been a tutor with this program since 1998. I always loved school and the whole education process, so when I started teaching I assumed that all of my students would feel the same way. But I quickly learned that school is not easy for everybody. What I found though, is that if you provide a fun, safe environment for kids to learn in, they will learn.
