I am a College Student working towards getting a Secondary Education Teaching degree in Biology and Chemistry. I want to eventually go on and teach at the University level. I am planning on going to the University of Utah and want to get a doctorates in Biology or Biochemistry. I have spent two years in the great land of Russia. I love the country and all the people. I have been involved with the National Program I Can READ for 2 years I helped k-3rd graders improve reading skills/ I was lucky enough to be staff(and a volunteer) for the boys and girls club for 1 year.I have helped in many local elementary schools with reading. I was the main tutor for Preschool-1st grade at the American Fork literacy Center for 6 years(I volunteered for 9)
I have always had a passion for teaching . I do not have a degree but I do have 20+ years experience. I think reading and learning should always be FUN so I try to make it fun by echo reading/funny flash cards/. All of my DAR(dream achieve read) students know that reading can take you places

A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated from Brigham Young University in April 2011. I am a graduate in Communications can help in English, Writing, Editing but also took AP Calculus and AP Statistics and passed both tests. I love math but feel that communicating through writing is very important. During the last two years I have worked at an Elementary School as Para Professional tutoring children in Math and Reading both in small groups and one-on-one. I love helping children learn!
Building a good relationship with a child is key to helping them learn. When good relationships are developed children can then trust the teacher or tutor to help them in whatever way possible. That way, the knowledge will mean much more than if someone just tells them the answer, or tells the student how to do the problem. I have a daughter that is hearing impaired and has a langauge processing disorder. I also have a teenage son that is extremely bright, but a little lazy at school work. Teaching and watching them learn has shown me all children can learn, but they do it in different ways and at different speeds.
