I do my best to make learning fun and relatable.

I have worked as an English, Math, and Science tutor at both the undergraduate and graduate level for the past 7 years. Within that time, I have tutored countless students that have shown noticeable improvement in their test scores and their understanding of class material. As an undergraduate at Victor Valley College, I was part of the Model United Nations program, the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and the Writing Center. I currently work as a tutor at CSU San Bernardino, where I assist students with writing assignments from a wide variety of disciplines. As a senior/graduate level pre-medical biology major, I am highly experienced with topics ranging from Cellular Respiration to Neuroscience. I also have hundreds of hours of plant, animal, cellular, and outdoor/ecological lab experience.

Algebra I is one of my top subjects! Algebra I is the foundation of any further math subject. The ability to interpret graphs, the ability to solve equations regarding a variable is a must have in order to advance into any other math subject. This is really, the foundation of math.

I believe my experience falls directly on the amount of effort I have put into the subjects. Coming from another country ad having a lack of communication due to an absence of knowledge of the English language, I have battled my way through school. I have had to put the time and effort into every subject I learned and will not hesitate to share that knowledge with any other student. My experience and abilities are demonstrated really by my efforts and quantity of knowledge of the subjects.
I think the easiest teaching style is to show students how every concept relates. How it relates to other subjects previously learned, why it relates to the real world and why should it relate to school.

My comments on tutoring Algebra I : Tutored basic math through advanced calculus in college.

I excelled in both math and English tracks in high school, and when they ran out of math classes I could take, I started on computers. I put myself through college tutoring all levels of math from basic mathematics to advanced calcusus (though I never did like trig). I've been an award-winning professional website designer/developer for 16 years.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am Chris, a recent graduate of Thomas Edison State College. I began my college life at the local community college, the Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, California. There, after two years of preparation, I decided to apply for admission to Cal State University Northridge. I was accepted into the university on the Spring of 2005 as a Mathematics major and remained there until the Fall of 2006. On the Spring of 2007, I experienced a mishap and also in 2008 which caused me to withdraw again from the university. Several months after, I decided to finish and conclude my college studies with TESC. On March 6th of 2009, I was conferred a graduate of TESC with a B.A. Degree in Mathematics/ Natural Sciences.

A Little Bit About Me...

My tutoring style is very one-on-one and interactive. I encourage the students I tutor to ask as many questions as possible to get right to the root of why they are having difficulty with a certain subject. I enjoy students who are motivated to do well and who strive to get past their problems with learning. I try to explain things as thoroughly and concisely as possible in terms that a student would understand. Overall, patience, understanding, determination, and a sense of humor are all what makes for a positive tutoring experience for both the student and the tutor.
I have worked as a personal tutor in the past, and have helped students with a variety of subjects from Trigonometry to Spanish. I have also worked with international students learning English. I have grown up around my cousins' children and that has truly inspired me to go into teaching. Through my courses I have personally worked with different learning styles and enjoy the challenge of teaching them a way to see math through their own eyes. There are so many different ways to teach math and I am grateful to have had a wonderful math teacher in college that concentrated on the different way you can teach the same subject matter. I have always enjoyed working with children and am very considerate and patient. I am determined to have them achieve!
As a Liberal Studies major at California State University of Bakersfield, the majority of the classes were aimed at how to teach children and how to teach different learning types.
